At present, there are approximately 100 million coaxial cable runs deployed for analog closed circuit television systems. In the next 3-5 years, they will be replaced with high definition cameras, either over coax or UTP. However, some users were worried about expensive upgrade costs with the shift to a new camera and DVR technology, such as the enormously high price of SDI, but TVI is being made very affordable, very much comparable to the price of traditional analog systems. Along side the price drop while still holding 1080P resolution, the TVI DVR's work with analog cameras and IP cameras and the TVI cameras will work on traditional analog DVR's. The resolution you get is limited to the weakest link, until you get all tvi cameras and a tvi dvr. This means you can upgrade the DVR and then one camera at a time to spread out costs if need be.
